Is it a SAD light?

Close, but it's an UPP Light! It's made to the same specification as a SAD light, however, it's not a registered medical device. At Upp Wellbeing we focus on where we are going, not where we have come from.

The UPP light is not a registered medical product so is therefore available for anyone and everyone without the need for labels. Everyone deserves the opportunity to appreciate high quality light.

Can the light be used to relieve seasonal affective disorder (SAD) symptoms?

It's a full spectrum light with an intensity of 10,000 lux and 4600 lumens however we can't make any claims that this light will make you feel absolutely amazing - that's for you to judge.

30 day return policy

Use the light for yourself and feel the difference it makes to your mornings or get your money back. Products can be returned within 30 days of making your purchase, subject to the limitations set out in these Terms. Other than that, you could gift it to someone who may benefit from it.

This light affects your circadian rhythm

Use the light in the mornings, as early as you get up. This sets off your circadian rhythm, which is your body's natural 24-hour cycle that regulates many processes, including your sleep-wake cycle and hormone production.

By stimulating this rhythm with light in the morning, you'll experience a cascade of benefits, including increased alertness and focus, making maximum use out of those extra hours.

When is it recommended to use the light?

It's recommended to use the light in the mornings and daytime and to stop using the light a few hours before going to bed so that your body can adjust to the evening cycle to prepare you for sleep. Use at your own discretion.

Could this light keep me awake?

Yes, it most definitely could.

All light causes an increase in serotonin, the brighter the light, the greater the effect. It does this by preventing the serotonin from being converted into another hormone called melatonin which makes us feel tired in order to prepare us for sleep as it gets darker (that's why we can often get grumpy when we're tired).

So if you want to wake up naturally without coffee or need to stay up late working, just keep the light on and you'll notice the difference.  Just remember to turn it off at least an hour before you want to sleep!

Does it come with a Guarantee?

Yes, the light comes with a 1 year guarantee/warranty as standard. After purchasing, you can register the light to extend this to 2 years which covers it against manufacturing defects.

See warranty conditions for full details.

Can I spend too long in front of the light?

Use your own judgement as for how long to use the light. If you feel uncomfortable or like you've had too much light then move away from it or turn it off, just like you would any other light source.

Be aware that using the light into the evenings may keep you awake so turn it off at least an hour before bed.

How long can the light be kept on for each day? Is there a limit?

We recommend using the light no more than 8 hours in one day to prolong the life of the unit.

How much does it cost to run?

Just over 1 pence per hour.

At 45 watts, the upp® light will consume around £0.09 for 8 hours of use.

*Calculated using the UK (Midlands) EDF rate of 25p/kWh (Standard tariff).

Where is the best place to use the light?

Where you spend most of your time is recommended.

Main use areas so far are office spaces for productivity and kitchens & dining rooms for the asthetic and socialising.

Any area that you use a lot will appreciate that bright daylight feeling.

If you do suffer in the morning then you might want to try it by your bed or where you get dressed so you can get your circadian rhythm going first thing.
